The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is tasked with improving safety on our roads in order to reduce death and injury resulting from road collisions. An objective of the RSA is to bring Ireland's road safety record into line with "best practice" countries throughout the World. |

The Driver Theory Test is designed to help you be a safe, courteous and informed driver. |
|
The driving test is designed to establish whether you know the Rules of the Road, have the knowledge and skill to drive competently in accordance with those rules and drive with due regard for the safety and convenience of other road users. |
|
The local authorities are licensing authorities and issue driving licenses. Since 29 October 2007 provisional driving licenses are no longer being issued and are being replaced by learner permits. Current provisional driving licenses will continue to be valid until they expire. |
